“The Lord is near to those who call upon Him”
Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 8:16-18.
Jesus said to the crowd : “No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel or sets it under a bed ; rather, he places it on a lampstand so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible, and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear. To anyone who has, more will be given, and from the one who has not, even what he seems to have will be taken away.”
Reflection: let us allow ourselves to become the instruments of God’s charity to those around us. We do not light our lamps and hide them under our beds do we? We place the lamps on a lampstand to give light so also when we are blessed, we bless others so that the blessings of God may increase in our lives. To whom much is given; much is expected. Let us resist stinginess where we find ourselves refusing to be a blessing to others because even the little we may have could still be taken from us… because our God knows that if we are not even faithful in a little, how then can we be faithful in much?
